Publication Ethics

Asian Journal of Primary Education and Learning (AJPEL) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal, available online and published periodically. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process of an article in this journal, including the authors, editors, editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher, Yayasan Sahabat Literasi Edukasi dan Publikasi Bandung. This publication ethics statement is based on the principles of transparency, academic integrity, and the ethical standards of scientific publication, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in Asian Journal of Primary Education and Learning (AJPEL) is an important contribution to the development of knowledge, particularly in the field of primary education, learning innovation, curriculum development, teaching strategies, educational technology, and teacher professional development. Published articles are expected to reflect the quality of academic work produced by authors and their institutions. Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process are required to follow ethical standards in order to maintain the credibility, originality, and quality of scholarly publications.

Yayasan Sahabat Literasi Edukasi dan Publikasi Bandung as the publisher of Asian Journal of Primary Education and Learning (AJPEL) takes its responsibilities seriously in overseeing all stages of the publication process. The publisher is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial interests, institutional pressure, personal relationships, or other conflicts of interest. The publisher, editors, and editorial board also work together to maintain publication quality and support ethical communication with authors, reviewers, institutions, and other publishers when necessary.

Publication Decisions

The editor of Asian Journal of Primary Education and Learning (AJPEL) is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. The decision is based on the manuscript’s relevance to the journal scope, originality, academic quality, contribution to knowledge, clarity of presentation, and reviewers’ recommendations. The editor may consult with other editors or reviewers in making publication decisions. The editor must also consider legal requirements related to copyright, plagiarism, defamation, and academic misconduct.

Fair Play
The editor evaluates submitted manuscripts based on their intellectual and academic content without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, institutional affiliation, or political philosophy of the authors. Every manuscript must be treated fairly and objectively throughout the editorial and review process.

Confidentiality
The editor, editorial board, and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher as appropriate. All submitted manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents before publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors and editorial board members must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the written consent of the author. Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, personal, institutional, or financial relationships with the authors or institutions connected to the manuscript.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts. Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, objective, and academically useful feedback to support the improvement of the manuscript.

Promptness
Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the manuscript or knows that completing the review within the required time is not possible should notify the editor promptly and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or disclose the manuscript to others except with permission from the editor. Information obtained through peer review must not be used for personal advantage.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments and provide recommendations that help improve the academic quality of the manuscript.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Reviewers should also notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works of which they have knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, personal, institutional, or financial relationships with any of the authors, organizations, or institutions related to the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards
Authors should present an accurate account of the research conducted, including an objective discussion of its significance. The data, methods, findings, and conclusions must be presented clearly and honestly. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to understand and verify the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are considered unethical and unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscript is original. If authors use the work, ideas, data, or words of others, they must properly cite or quote them. Plagiarism in all forms is unethical and unacceptable. All manuscripts submitted to Asian Journal of Primary Education and Learning (AJPEL) may be checked for similarity before publication.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Authors should also not publish manuscripts describing substantially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others. Publications that have influenced the research should be cited appropriately. Information obtained privately, such as through conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used without permission from the source.

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, data analysis, interpretation, or writing of the manuscript. All individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included, that no inappropriate co-authors are listed, and that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research should be clearly stated in the manuscript when applicable.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, the author has an obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to correct, revise, or retract the article if necessary.

Plagiarism and Similarity Check

Asian Journal of Primary Education and Learning (AJPEL) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism. Every submitted manuscript may be checked using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts that contain plagiarism, excessive similarity, data fabrication, data falsification, or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected, returned to the author for revision, or retracted if already published.

Retraction and Correction Policy
The journal may issue corrections, clarifications, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary. Retraction may be considered when there is clear evidence of unreliable findings, plagiarism, unethical research, duplicate publication, or other serious violations of publication ethics.

The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining the integrity of the academic record. The publisher ensures that editorial decisions are independent and that published content follows ethical standards. The publisher also supports transparency, accessibility, and accountability in the publication process.
